Here we have a ‘Justacorps’ style jacket, with a short cut for wearing with a Great Kilt feileadh mor, or even with a Small Kilt feileadh beag. This is a cut for the mid to later eighteenth century, with a non-closable jacket and turn back cuffs. We have devised this pattern to look the part, while also being comfortable for the modern wearer.

  • Please provide a firm chest measurement, a relaxed waist measurement, then a sleeve length measurement.
  • The sleeve is best taken from a well-fitting suit jacket, taken from the top of the shoulder seam down along the outside of the arm, to the bottom of the cuff.
  • If you supply your height as well, we’ll be able to check that looks right, The jacket length is made in proportion to the sleeve.
  • Please also provide a bicep measurement - taken around the widest part of your upper arm - as the sleeves on this type of jacket are firmly fitted.
  • A couple more measurements can be useful for us: a measurment around your forearm. If you're wearing this with a great kilt, a measurment around the waist while wearing the kilt would be very helpful.

Completely made in Glasgow. These jackets are made to measure and made to order, which can take up to seven weeks.

We can also make an earlier eighteenth-century version, which is closable to the collar, as well as a full-length version. We can make in tartan , or make with more elaborate materials, buttons and decoration, please contact us to discuss and we will work out a quote.

This jacket can be made in a range of tweeds, or plain-cloth barathea, all 100% pure wool and lined in cotton. The back has large vents to better suit wearing with a feileadh mor.

The waistcoat is a buff-coloured cotton, with imitation horn buttons. Let us know in the text box if you’d rather it matches the jacket, or you'd like different buttons.
